We first explored excavation as a process of removing the old foundation so we could build a new foundation. When construction on the US Bank Stadium began, they started by removing the Metrodome Stadium. This process I learned that there is more below the surface that you don’t see until you start digging. Often in our lives, we have things buried below the surface that keep us from building on a foundation of Christ. We learned that we can remove the foundation of our past by accepting and receiving forgiveness.
The next message we moved to building on a foundation of Jesus. If we are to build on a foundation of Christ, we must first learn what the foundations of Jesus’ faith are. I learned this under Marc Turnage in Israel that the foundation of Jesus faith is found in Matthew 6 – righteousness, prayer, and repentance.
The third message revolved around the story of David and Goliath. We looked at barriers that can stand between you and your calling – fear, pride, lack of faithfulness to the gift, and taking someone else’s calling.
The event finished off with a simple message on archeological excavations. Excavations are done as a team, our faith isn’t meant to be done alone, and excavations are never ending, there is always more to discover with Jesus.
